Major Hospital Renovation Begins June 18
Construction to run through 2013

On June 18, Memorial Medical Center will begin the largest renovation and expansion since the hospital moved to its present location in 1967.

The plans include a major reconstruction and expansion of both the surgery and emergency service areas and will provide a new, more visible, public entrance on the south side of the building facing Ludington Avenue. Other outpatient services, such as cardiopulmonary, laboratory and medical imaging will also be enhanced.  The most noticeable change will be the new main entrance on the south side of the hospital, with separate doors for emergency and general admittance. Most patients currently use an entrance on the north side of the building, which in the future will be the surgery entrance.

The entire project has been titled “Building Exceptional Healthcare,” because of its emphasis on design that allows for improved patient access and an enhanced patient experience.  The title derives from the hospital’s defined mission—to enhance life through exceptional healthcare.

The $14.7 million project will be completed near the end of 2013.
