Memorial Medical Center of West Michigan is located in Ludington in Mason County on Michigan's west coast, sometimes referred to as the “third coast.”

The area served by Memorial Medical Center is rural, mostly resort areas, with tourism, retail and manufacturing the main industries.

Ludington has a population of about 8,500; Mason County about 28,000. The area sees a large influx of people during the summer tourism months where its state park, 27 miles of beaches, charter boat fishing, and over 60 inland lakes are utilized. Cities in Mason, Manistee, Lake and Oceana counties provide the best of small town living, providing an abundance of outdoor recreation, excellent school systems, and low crime; making the region a great place to raise a family.

The median age in Ludington is 39. Census data shows that the population is growing in numbers of people age 45 and older. Of those in the workforce, most of the population is employed in service or production industries.
