Genetic Testing and Counseling

Genetic testing is performed on patients with certain cancers when there is concern that a genetic syndrome may be contributing to a patient’s cancer diagnosis.

We offer education and testing for common genetic syndromes such as BRCA 1 and BRCA 2 (hereditary breast and ovarian cancer) and for colon cancer syndromes such as HNPCC (hereditary nonpolyposis colon cancer) and PAP (familial adenomatous polyposis colon cancer).

Consultation with a genetic educator is performed via telephone and consists of an appointment to explain the above information as well as to obtain insurance verification. If you have questions or want further information on genetic testing, please ask your physician.
