How to Raise a Young Peacemaker

A study of parents and their 10- to 15-year-old boys and girls found a clear link between parents’ attitudes about violence and their kids’ history of fighting. The more accepting parents were of violence, the more apt their children were to get into fights. A similar connection was found between spanking and kids’ behavior. The authors advise parents to avoid spanking in the home and to teach kids how to solve problems without violence.
