Active Lifestyle Can Protect Against Workplace Injuries

Once-a-week recreation can help protect you from repetitive strain injuries (RSIs) on the job. That’s the report from a study of nearly 60,000 full-time workers. Those who enjoyed physical activities in their time off had almost 20 percent fewer RSIs than their less-active counterparts.

Most RSIs occur in the wrists, hands, shoulders, and elbows. Physical leisure activities can strengthen muscles that get underused—or overused—at work. So, whatever weekend activity you prefer—tennis, gardening, swimming, dancing, walking—just do it. You’ll reap the benefits all week long.
